Long Skirts

Long Maxi Skirts were a trend seen in the Spring with tank tops and graphic tees. I think it is such a great look for Fall. I like this look paired with a simple collared dress shirt, chunky belt, and Fall inspired hue Maxi Skirt! The skirt at Target goes for $29.99. Another way to make this look happen and save some dough would be to use your Maxi Dresses from this Summer and wear a Blazer or Cardigan sinched with a belt! Boots, a scarf, and/or cute beanie would be the finishing pieces to this Fall outfit!

Hey Kitty Kitty

Here is your challenge for this week: Find the Inner Feline! Leopard print is everywhere you look, but how many of you actually wear it? The colors go with everything, and feel free to put a pop of color with it. When I see someone wearing this print, I wish I was wearing it so this is a challenge for me as well! You can go for a full Dress with Leopard or keep in subtle in the accents. Get your Cat Walk on Ladies!

I Like Them CHUNKY!

The chunkier, the better! I think this is a great twist on "Sweats". Throw on a chunky cable knit and jeggings or leggings for an everyday comfy look. Good for the Super Market and for Movies at the "Family Room Theatre". It's all about looking like you made an effort with your attire, when in reality you just rolled out of bed! Or is that just me!

Oh Happy Day!

Well Hello Friends and Strangers! It's been awhile since I've tapped into the "Blog Scene"! I am going to attempt, no promises, to get Mom.Me Market up and running again. So...here we go!

Killer 2-in-1 Concealer

Concealer Twins 2-in-1 Correct and Cover Cream Concealer

*Conveniently joins together a color corrective and a light, flesh-tone cream concealer to help you achieve flawless-looking skin.

*Yellow hides dark under-eye circles and other bluish skin discolorations.

*Green color corrects red blemishes and scars.

*Light covers yellow and any minor skin imperfections.

*Gentle creamy formula, transfer-resistant, water resistant and glides on smoothly to velvety finish.

Price: $6.95
I have used this Concealer for the past 6 months, and I love the way it goes on and stays on! I use the flesh-toned side for imperfections before I apply my mineral based powder. I then apply the yellowish toned side under my eyes and blend. One tip I have is to keep your applicator clean if you are using it to cover pimples. You can find this concealer wherever Physicians Formula is found. I get mine from either Target, Walmart, CVS, or Ulta.

Masking the Frizz and Fray of Winter Hair

Whether you have highlighted hair, dyed hair, or just natural hair, we all have struggled to keep our hair hydrated especially in these winter months. Rule #1: Stop washing your hair everyday! Did you know that Americans wash their hair more than any other country does? Think about what this could do to your water bill! "Total Bonus!" If you work out and get sweaty, just use a cream rinse instead of doing both shampoo and conditioner. Rule #2 Find yourself a Hair Mask. I am currently using a Time Renewal Replenishing Mask from Pantene. You shampoo, rinse, ring out hair as much as possible, then apply the cream mask all over your hair (especially the ends) an then let it set for 5 minutes and rinse. With my highlighted hair, I can get split ends so easily. My hair is so much softer and shiny looking since I've started using a mask. I also incorporate Pantene's Frizz Control Ultra Smoothing Balm while my hair is still damp. This helps smooth out any fly aways or extra dry ends.

Spring/Summer 2010 Trends

Bring the Spring

Long time no blog! Let's just say that Spring is bringing me new inspiration so I am here to share it with you. We are all in the "Blah" phase of winter, and can't stop talking about the snow that keeps coming. I'm ready to spice up the conversation with conversational pieces in your wardrobe! Let's start with this Springs must-have trends:

1. The Fabric is Denim. It's not just for jeans, try a bag, shoes or cool clothes.
2. The Skirt is Mini. In brights, neutrals or print, anything goes.
3. The Texture is Soft Leather and Suede. Forget structured and stiff. Light skin tones in dresses, jackets, shorts, and more are super stylish.
4. The Shoe is a Modern Clog. Add earthy cool to jeans, shorts or a drapery dress with chunky-heeled platforms. Stick to Neutral hues.
5. The Jewelry is Clear. The lucite look is back. Necklaces are chunky in size, but still have a lightweight feel.
6. The Colors are Soft and Neutral. From sleek accessories to romantic tops to drapey dresses, shades of blush, sand and taupe are everywhere. This also includes shoes and bags.
7. The Nail color is "Putty". OPI's big hit "You Don't Know Jacques" is a perfect shade to compare to Putty.
8. The Bag is a Drawstring Bucket. This slightly '80s style is roomy but not oversize.
9. The Lib Color is Orange-Red. Wet n Wild carries the perfect shade, Coraline for $1.99.
10. The Eye Shadow is Pastel. Pale yet eye-catching shades-lavender, turquoise, pink and green in matte to shimmery finishes.
11. The Skin in Luminous. A natural glow is the look to strive for.
12. The Hair is Tousled and Textured. Persission and perfection are old hat for the Spring and Summer. Beach hair Baby!

Prime Time

Primer is the foundation in all art! It makes the canvas even and smooth. Your face is canvas for your Makeup, so why aren't you using a Primer on it? I have been using Primer, also known as "Face Perfector", for over 2 years now. I can not apply my makeup without it! Primer is a silky creme that fills lines and pores and smooths out the skins texture. Primers bring out the magic in the makeup! Apply a thin layer all over your face and neck after you've moisturized, then proceed with your regular makeup routine. AVON has a Face Perfector SPF 20 from it's MagiX line that is my favorite. It is listed at $10.00 right now with the second tube 1/2 off! Go to http://www.avon.com/ and put Face Perfector in the search box. Ulta is also a great place to get hooked up with a Primer. Bare Minerals and Smashbox carry them, but they'll be more expensive. Mainstream cosmetic lines are starting to carry their own primers as well. I do know Rimmel carries a Foundation Primer.

*A great trick I use in the evenings when I don't have time to redo my makeup is to take toilet paper and blot off the oily areas, reapply the primer, then freshen up the existing makeup. Works like a charm!

Mom.Me Market Make Over

Allison
Age 13

Budget of $300.00

This is my amazing Little Sister Allison. She is in Junior High and loves animals. She was brave enough to let me give her a make over from head to toe. Before the Make Over Day, I did my own research. I wanted to have a "Shopping List" of items to specifically look for when we were shopping. I printed it off for her to have while we shopped and away we went. Our first stop was Gordman's. They were having a huge clearance sale, so we took full advantage. Second stop was to WalMart. We found an amazing silver dress there for $16.00! Make up was purchased from the Physicians Formula line. We got her the best basic makeup for everyday use. Last stop was the Cost Cutters within Walmart for a cut and highlight. Once we had our goodies we returned to my home to had the finishing touches. We coordinated two outfits for the pictures, I styled her hair and applied makeup. Total Transformation!
She ended up with 17 clothing items
4 accessories (hats and headbands)
Pair of Shoes
Hair cut and Highlight
Make Up
Good Company
all just under $300.00!
If you're stumped on what to get someone for their Birthday or Christmas, consider getting the a Make Over...You can have me for a day as your Personal Fashion Consultant!

Get the Skinny!

I Love belts, and the skinny belt is a must accessory! Black, red, brown, white, I could go on and on with the possibilities in colors you can find. They are great for dresses, cardigans, and tunics, not to mention they make your figure look great. They accentuate the waist line and make your legs look longer! It's a quick Slim and Stretch!

Jewelery Board

I made my mom a Jewelery Board for Christmas a couple years ago. She has so many wonderful pieces from her trips to Mexico and as gifts that she wanted to be able to see them all so she could wear them all.

" I love my jewelry board!! Lynston gave me the supplies to take a cork board, cover it with velvet, stick pins or tacks in it, and hang my jewelry so I can see it. I'm wearing jewelry more now because it's there in front of me... like a picture when I get dressed in the morning. I even hang earrings! I can easily see what colors/styles work for the day. It's a lot cheaper than a jewelry box and much more convenient!! Bring on the bling!!"
(Susan, My Lovely Mother)
You can use any color of fabric you want, but velvet is easier to poke a hole through without being too noticeable. Use a large stapler to attach the fabric. You can get creative with your tacks and put glue on the end of the and dip in glitter...go wild. I heavier the jewels, the bigger the tack;)

Scrubby Scrubby...Works!

I used the recipe for the face lastnight...honey and baking soda...AMAZING! My skin felt so soft and moisturized. I didn't need to apply anymore lotion to my face for overnight, it was Fabulous! Instead of using Epsom Salt for the body scrub, I used sugar and olive oil. My skin was glowing afterwards. It wasn't greasy, it was just very smooth and shiney. I can't tell you how much better my skin felt and looked! Try it, you'll love it.

Scrubby Scrubby

So, is anyone else getting the winter itch? Dry skin is a constant battle to stay on top of, especially in the frigid winter months. I have been searching for a body scrub to sluff off the dead, dry skin that can be made in my own kitchen. I found a good recipe that is for the face and body:
For the Face use honey & baking soda. It works better than those crystal derma kits! Plus Honey is a natural antibacterial and moisturizer. For the Body it up Walgreens. They make a lavender Epsom bath salt (smells really good)and mix that with baby oil or olive oil!

Staticky Hair Prevention

By BFF Alyssa wanted to know how to cure Staticky Hair, so I searched it out. I found these steps on taming those electric locks on http://www.ehow.com/.
Step 1
Deep-condition your hair regularly. (See Related eHow "How to Deep-Condition Hair".) Properly moisturized hair is less likely to be affected by static.
Step 2
Use a "leave-in" conditioner on your hair after you wash it, or apply conditioning hair gel. These products help to weigh the hair down.
Step 3
Spray your hairbrush or comb with an anti-static spray before you run it through your hair.
Step 4
Keep a fabric softener sheet handy and run it over your hair when it starts to get out of control. Carry it in your purse so you can use it several times during the day if necessary.
Step 5
Avoid hair products that include ingredients that will dry out your hair, such as alcohol or harsh chemicals such as sodium lauryl sulfates.

Rain Boots

Rain Boots are major this time of year and in the spring. You can choose from a great variety at http://www.target.com/. They are all $24.99. Who knew rain boots could be a way of expressing yourself?
*My Lovely Mother had another good idea when it comes to looking for fun rainboots. Try Tractor Supply or Theisens for Fashion "Muck" Boots.
